Learning Technology Innovation

The Learning Technology Innovation team is lead by Peter Stone, who works with 2 excellent Learning Technology Researchers –  Graham North and Tharindu Liyanagunawardena (chair of the OLRC).  The focus of the team is to research new Learning Technologies, pilot their use where appropriate and if suitable implement and add them to the toolset at UCEM.  This approach enables us to provide evidence for selection of a certain Learning Technology and publish research on the impact it has on student outcomes.

The team have been involved in a number of recently completed projects – the implementation of online marking; a review of how stakeholders (students and tutors) perceived the implementation of online marking; and a review of e-portfolio platforms.

We are currently in the process of assessing – Learning Locker (a learning record store); Red Panda (a personal learning hub) and Curatr (a social learning platform).  We are also looking at – the semantic analysis of forums posts and a speech to text transcription solution.

We will publish posts to this site that cover our views on completed projects, those in progress and on the evolving Learning Technology world.
