After analysing pros and cons of various video communication tools (Graham will tell you how much fun he had testing various software) UCEM has now purchased Zoom as the institutional webinar platform. Zoom will replace Blackboard Collaborate as the webinar platform for students from this Spring. Furthermore, UCEM will also be using Zoom for all-staff meetings.
We have created a short [1:44min] video to capture how a student can join a Zoom webinar from a VLE link. We will make this video available for our students replacing the guidance previously made available for Blackboard Collaborate. Practicing what I preach I have created captions for the video using Amara free web service.
Given that Zoom has its own rich library of Zoom help videos we felt we did not have to duplicate the effort. We will be providing links to useful help videos from Zoom website too.
